I am a professional drummer and vocalist with a career in music spanning three decades. I’ve toured all over the world, I’ve won a Juno, been nominated for three, and I’ve been a part of many songs that cracked the top ten in several territories, including a hit solo video in Canada in the eighties. I was also hired as a session drummer on a regular basis, and have a discography of over twenty albums. (Remember those?)

Throughout my adult life, I always had a passion for hair. Not just my own, but everyone else’s too. I had strong opinions. I knew when somebody had a cut or colour that didn’t suit them. I started experimenting on friends. I got bold with colours, cuts, crimping irons and hairspray. Especially in the eighties. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing, but people seemed to like what I did. Most of them are still my friends.

When my music career tailed off, I finally followed my other dream and went to hairstyling school. I was one of the first students at the now prestigious Hair Company Academy where I received personal tutelage from award winning colourist and stylist Theresa Kelly. I graduated at the top of my class.

I’m trained in Vidal Sassoon cuts, as well as some Toni and Guy stuff. I can do funky modern looks, but I love classic hair too. I love long hair, and I sometimes talk women out of cutting it all off. I use the Map-Tech technique for highlights and lowlights which uses plastic sheets instead of foils, giving me precision control over colour distribution. I also took formal barbering lessons from a master barber from New York.

I apprenticed and worked alongside some of the top stylists in the GTA, and spent a few years working in a couple of wonderful places. In 2015 I opened my own salon “Eddie’s On Main” in the hamlet of Schomberg, about 20 minutes’ drive west of my home in Newmarket where I serviced not only my regular clients from all over, but a steady stream of performers and celebrities from Toronto.

Despite the great success of Eddie’s On Main, when my lease came up I had a strong gut feeling it was time to close that chapter as I’ve always fantasized about having a salon in my beloved Brock/Kawartha region where I spend my summers.

I love doing hair more than ever and I’m excited to have this beautiful historic space in charming historic Cannington, where I look forward to meeting new clients while continuing to enjoy real coffee and good music. (Yes, I hate the music in almost every salon.)

I’ve worked with many different colour lines and have my favourites, which I keep in stock. I use mostly Elgon (from Italy) and Kenra. A bit of Dikson and Swartzkopf creep in from time to time.

My prices are affordable, my work is top notch. Hope to see you soon
